The following section describes some of the fax features provided in MacComCenter Plus.
Sending Faxes. Faxes can be sent using any Macintosh application which has QuickDraw printing capabilities. Faxes are sent by 'Printing' from these applications. This means that faxes can be sent from most Macintosh word processors, database, spreadsheets, or graphics programs. Faxes can be sent immediately, or at scheduled times when telephone line charges are at their lowest. You can broadcast your faxes to multiple recipients by specifying multiple phonebook entries when sending faxes. Faxes may be rescheduled, resent, forwarded or held to prevent sending.
WYSIWYG Faxing. Faxes are sent out using the same fonts, layout, and graphics as the original document. As a result, you can create faxes that consist of high quality fonts and graphics.
Cover Pages. MacComCenter Plus allows you to create and include cover pages with your faxes. Your cover pages can include text and graphics that have been scanned into your computer or created in your favorite drawing and paint programs.
Printing Received Faxes. If you prefer a hard copy of a fax, MacComCenter Plus can print a fax to any Macintosh supported printer (dot matrix, laser, or Postscript printer).
Converting the Fax to Text. MacComCenter Plus supports Optical Character Recognition (OCR) which converts received faxes into editable text documents.
Background Fax Imaging. MacComCenter Plus converts printed documents to fax images in the background, not in the printer driver. This speeds up the printing process and allows you to continue working on your Macintosh while documents are converted prior to transmission.
Grayscale Faxing. MacComCenter Plus provides 4, 16 and 64 shades of grayscale for faxing graphics images.
Fax Forwarding. MacComCenter Plus can optionally forward received faxes to another fax machine.
Drag' N Fax. MacComCenter Plus provides a Drag and Drop application for quick faxing of documents.

Terminal Emulators. MacComCenter Plus provides five terminal emulators: ANSI, TTY, VT52, VT100 and VT102.

Easy Access to Popular On-line Services. MacComCenter Plus automates the log-on sequence for popular services such as CompuServe, Dow Jones, and GEnie.
Automatic Switching to AppleTalk Remote Access (ARA). MacComCenter Plus allows automatic switching of an incoming call to ARA. You can make ARA connections through MacComCenter Plus in order to access your Macintosh remotely and still receive voice and fax messages.
Caller ID Logging. MacComCenter Plus can automatically log incoming calls and optionally announce the caller using Apple's text to speech technology. This feature requires that you subscribe to Caller ID with your phone company and that your modem has Caller ID support. Caller ID announcing requires that you have PlainTalk installed and enabled on the Macintosh.
Multiple Simultaneous Serial Port Access. MacComCenter Plus can support up to five modems at the same time. This feature assumes that the Macintosh has appropriate serial communications hardware and a fast enough processor to handle the I/O speeds. Most Macintosh computers have two serial ports available -- the Modem port and the Printer port.
Locale Definition. MacComCenter Plus allows you to create Locales which define the dialing parameters for outgoing calls. Locale definitions provide local and long distance dialing data, country access codes, 10 digit dialing information and credit card numbers. Locales can be linked to a specific Mailbox which provides security for credit card information.
Speakerphone Support. MacComCenter Plus provides support for speakerphone dialing and answering. This feature requires that the modem has hardware support for speakerphone features.
Control Strip Module. MacComCenter Plus supplies a Control Strip Module which gives you instant access to Locale settings, MacComCenter Plus applications, printer selection and enabling or disabling of MacComCenter Plus services.
